As a result of two internships and a diploma thesis of students from the University of Magdeburg, Germany, in the course of a mutual research and educational cooperation between the Software Measurement Laboratory (SML@b) of Prof. Dumke (University of Magdeburg) and the Software Engineering Management Research Laboratory (SEMRL) of Prof. Abran (ÉTS in Montreal, Canada) the CAME tool Estimation 2004 has been developed. The tool was implemented by Dr. René Braungarten and helps to analyse the ISBSG data base (International Software Benchmark Standard Group). This data base includes (today) data of more than 5000 projects. The start screen is shown as following. The user can choose the kind of interesting proejct data by selection of any aspects. The tool itself supports a scatter plot (1), a selection of the display mode (2), the overview of estimates (3), the Indication of the Regression Equation and Coefficient of Determination R² (4), the Customization of the Estimation’s Parameters (5), the Manual Interval Disposition (6), the Elimination of Outliers (7), and the Initiation of another Estimation Task (8).
An example of the tool application of the first version is shown in the following figure. A further/later application shows the next screen.
